Academics

The Department provides a range of educational opportunities.  Undergraduate students wishing to specialize in Statistics or combine a Statistics degree with another discipline are well-served by a variety of programs.   Undergraduate and MSc Statistics students wishing to combine their university education with work experience can enroll in co-operative education program.   At the graduate level, the Department offers an MSc in Statistics, an MSc in Statistics with concentration in Biostatistics, and a PhD program.

Students not specializing in Statistics are welcome in all of our courses, provided there is space and prerequisites are met.  Indeed, almost all of our courses - at both the graduate and undergraduate level - have large enrollments of students from other disciplines.

In collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, we also offer a professional MSc degree in Data Science,  which is administered separately.  See the Master of Data Science web page for more information.  In addition, we teach a core course in the Bioinformatics program, Statistical Methods for High Dimensional Biology (cross-listed as STAT 540, BIOF 540, GSAT 540).
